Meet Kari Crispo | Wedding Planner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kari Crispo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kari, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One common misconception I hear about the Wedding Industry, especially Wedding Planners, is that there is an “off season”. There really isn’t an off-season! There may be an off time from weddings themselves, but we, as planners and designers, are constantly planning for what’s to come. For example, I usually take the last half of December and all of January off from weddings, but throughout that time I am still planning for all of the weddings happening the next, or even following, year. I love what I do and it’s so fun for me, so it’s never a problem to not have an “off” time, but the term “off-season” is one I hear quite frequently from outsiders!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Crisp Events & Design is a full-service wedding & event planning company serving the Carolinas and beyond! We offer a variety of services including planning/coordinating & rental décor! Out tagline is, “Whatever you dream, we can deliver.”

Crisp’s events are inspired by a classic look and feel, sprinkled with unique elements that are authentic to each couple we serve. Your love story is unlike any other, and your wedding should reflect that.

I’ve always had a love for organizing and planning events, but when it came to my own wedding I absolutely fell in love with the wedding side of it. I have helped countless friends and family members with their weddings, and now I have the honor of doing that for others outside of my immediate circle. It hasn’t always been easy, but working with the couples that I have make it so worth it. Seeing their genuine happiness, excitement, and appreciation for what we do truly does fuel me to keep going even in difficult moments or seasons.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My husband, my two crazy dogs, and myself currently live about 45 minutes north of Charlotte, North Carolina. We are out in the country in some land where it is nice and peaceful. Near us there are a lot of things to do! On a free weekend, we love exploring our historic little city to find new spots – whether it be a new place to eat, a bakery, or a winery!

We love hosting our friends and family, and would take them to all local spots to get a feel of our city! My favorites are the Cauble Creek Vineyard and the Millbridge Speedway – two local and very fun things to do!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to all of my fellow vendors. Navigating this business / industry when I first started on my own seemed a bit daunting, but those around me made it so much fun and so easy. I have become friends with a lot of vendors that I have worked with at weddings that have helped me along the way, whether it’s giving me advice, providing me with feedback, inviting e to social events, taking branding pictures, and everything in between! My fellow vendors definitely deserve a shoutout for all of the work they put in to not only weddings, but how much work and love they pour into those around them.
