We had the good fortune of connecting with Kani Young-holliday and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kani, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has played a pivotal role in my career, influencing many of the decisions that have shaped my professional journey in owning a successful massage and esthetics business. Kneaded by Kani started in the middle of the COVID pandemic after I had been let go from my from my job. I used this time to attend esthetics school and became a dual licensed massage therapist and esthetician. I started my business the same month that I graduated, with no prior entrepreneurial experience. Every single day you wake up and take a risk, but you have to know you are capable of achieving anything and driven enough to keep going no matter what the journey brings.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kneaded by Kani on of Greensboro’s top rated day spas providing massage, skincare, and esthetics services. My goal is to enhance and rejuvenate natural beauty, while encouraging self confidence, and promoting overall health and wellness. I am one of the few dual licensed massage therapists and estheticians in the area. I’m proud to share that I recently moved into my first store front location. I am excited to provide suite rental, new and updated services, as well as spa events! I got where I am today through unwavering faith in God and myself, hard work, and persistence. Nothing about the journey has been easy, but when you look back on all the lessons you have learned along the way you realize it was all a perfect set up for the great things to come. I started in a one room suite, dreaming of the day that I could have my own building with multiple treatment rooms. I learned that my humble start taught me almost everything about how to operate a successful business as a solo service provider. It prepared me for the day that I would expand my business. I want people to know that sometimes when things don’t work in your favor, its actually a setup for something greater in store. When I started I had no prior knowledge and I was absolutely terrified things wouldn’t work out. Everyday I showed up no matter what things looked like, I learned something new daily, I made connections, and I just kept moving forward. Trust yourself and your vision, work on it everyday and know that you will experience many trials but count it all joy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite spots in the city is Blue Denim. Its a family owned Southern Cajun Creole restaurant located in downtown Greensboro. Everything on the menu is amazing but my favorite is the Crawfish Etouffee.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Im thankful for the guidance of LaTonya Evans and Charrise Morris at Millenium Trade Academy. Also my mother Michele Young, my grandmother Lynda Young, and my husband Keith Holliday for their investments in my dreams and their constant support.
