We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Batten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create a professional life that worked around my personal life. I am a wife and mom and was in the career field of education, and I was missing out on moments with my family. So, I started working part-time helping business owners with social media marketing for their business.

I truly fell in love with marketing on social media as I have a background in network marketing. I took courses online, researched, and studied everything necessary to market effectively on social media. I was able to market for businesses in my small town in a way that got them recognition and customers in the door. This sparked my true passion to help other small businesses across the county, not just in my area of Eastern North Carolina. I have worked with some amazing businesses, and I get to put my family first, which was the goal when I started my business four years ago.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a digital marketing business that focuses on Social Media. I work with busy business owners who know they need to be present on social media but may not have time for it or want to do it. I work with businesses to ensure their voice is represented well and they are providing the content to reach their target audience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would ensure my friend and I hit all the best shopping spots, entertainment spots, and food. We would shop at North Hills, stop by the Farmers’ Market and enjoy local goodies, and grab lunch at the Farmers’ Market restaurant. During the week, we would stop at the Cupcake Shoppe and enjoy some delicious goodies and great gluten-free desserts. We would have to get dinner at The Angus Barn or Firebirds to enjoy the most delicious steaks. We would also enjoy time at the Drive Shack and Game On Escapes for great entertainment. And we would end the week of fun with a show at the DPAC.

There truly are so many amazing places to visit in Raliegh and surrounding areas; it would take more than a week to get to enjoy all that Raleigh as to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to my husband, who has been my biggest supporter from the very beginning. He supported me in helping me manage things around the house and with our children so that I could build my business while I was still teaching. He helps me brainstorm ideas for my business. He supports me and cheers me on, so I am grateful for him and all he has done to help me with my business.
