We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Woodall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was honestly just looking for a way to earn a few extra dollars for Christmas presents. I hosted a few Christmas Tree Farm Mini Sessions and one thing led to another.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The photography business is very saturated. Many start out and don’t survive after three years. I pride myself on my work because I don’t just point and shoot. There have been many hours of studying and striving to better my craft so I can stand out among those in my area. I also take pride in the fact that I want to build a relationship with my clients. Many feel that they are my only clients because of the one-on-one attention. Jessica Woodall Photography is more than a photography service, it’s a boutique experience. From the first point of contact to the hanging of the prints on your wall, I hope you feel less like a client and more like a familiar friend.
Because we are good friends, I will be able to catch the natural, candid and joyful images! I will pose you to capture the portraits that grandma wants, then ask you questions to help you relax and laugh. Those are the shots you want hanging on your wall!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start off with Black and White Coffee for the best coffee and pastries then head over to White Street Market to create and pour our own candle. After that, we would have lunch at Over The Falls then bowl at Strike and Barrel. The best part is we would park one time and hit up all of these locations on foot in downtown Wake Forest.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
No one cheers me on more than my family and close friends. My circle holds me up when imposter syndrome sets in and celebrates each accomplishment whether big or small.
