Meet Jessica Pullara Frazier | Baker & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Pullara Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Over the last 2.5-3 years that I have been in my storefront my work-balance has for the majority of the time been extremely off (working ALL the time). This was due to long hours, staffing issues or not being able to afford staff, and me literally doing anything to make sure the job got done. Over the last 6 months we have really gotten a great staff & they are very supportive in my work-life balance. I am able to work shorter, more normal days, and am able to trust my business is still running without me there.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is All Good Things Bakery in Tryon, NC. We are a retail bakery that takes extreme pride in providing fresh baked items to our community. I feel so much joy when people visit day after day to enjoy items that we create with our hands every morning. Owning a bakery is not easy, it is a lot of really hard and early hours. We are open 6 days a week, and most mornings I am getting up at 2am to get to work. Like I said, everything is made fresh each day so we get there early to make sure we have a variety of pastries avaliable when we open at 7am!
I am extremely fortunate to not have had a lot of hardships or challenges. Day to day? Yes of course. Customer service is extremely challenging, and I am tired most of the time. But at the end of the day we are so busy and the business has grown significantly since we opened without really having to market.
I am so grateful to my community for letting us in and making us feel like a staple in our town!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh how fun! we are eating at: The Purple Onion in Saluda (lots of gluten & dairy free options there!), The Spot in Salulda for tacos & margaritas, Southside Smokehouse for cocktails and cajun & BBQ, we love Shine in Hendersonville as well!
Drinking: The Tryon Bottle (perfect to pop in during the day for a mimosa or glass of wine, a great place to just hangout or have a blast at her Friday Night free wine tastings!), Bodega Noir in Landrum is also a super fun wine bar that has food trucks & live music a couple of days a week!
We have so many good Vineyards in the area but Overmountain Vineyard is my absolute favorite!
We have great hiking trails and a lot of waterfalls in our area, once a month our town has “Fourth Friday” where all the shops stay open late, theres live music all over town and its just a happy time. The Tryon Theatre is a single screen movie theatre that is newly renovated and simply AMAZING.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom! She sacrificed a lot of herself in the beginning years of my bakery. She is also a female business owner (The Tryon Bottle in Tryon, NC) and has been a great role model for success. Also my husband. The poor guy has gone on too many to count “runs to the store”!
