Meet Jessica J Strange Beauty Salon And Tattoo Collective | Salon and tattoo shop

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica J Strange Beauty Salon And Tattoo Collective and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi jessica j, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
People. People are the most important factor behind any personal service. When I started out on the journey to create Strange Beauty Tattoo and Salon Collective, I wanted to make something really special. A place where anyone could come and feel comfortable and empowered to affirm and express who they really are for the world to see. Everyone possesses their own strange beauty. But you can’t make a tattoo or do a haircut without a person to do the work for, and each client is different. These art forms are not about the artist, not even about the arts themselves, but about the person they’re being performed for. They’re meant to make that person feel more comfortable in their own skin. That’s what we really do. We help people become who they really are.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are the only shop of our kind in the area. We are a tattoo shop and a salon. I wanted to reach and serve our community and clients in different ways. Whether it’s a new tattoo or hair style or lash extensions or whatever, these personal services all do the same thing. They’re personally affirming, they help people feel good in their own skin. I think walking into tattoo shops can be intimidating for many people. As time goes on, tattooing becomes more and more acceptable and people from all walks of life are being tattooed. I wanted to create an environment that made people feel comfortable. And I wanted to take an approach that also reached out and served the community with good and charitable works. We all feel really good about coming to work every day. It’s just he kind of place I always dreamed of working.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When family and friends visit, we tend to take them to hops, bourbon bowl, mellow mushroom, don on Tate street and the boxcar for dining and night life experiences. Tate street coffee or clutch coffee bar are cool hangouts. I hear Greensboro science center is a cool place to visit. Walking downtown or in Greensboro arboretum are pretty cool.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Strange Beauty staff is what makes Strange Beauty possible. I, Jessica, maybe got this ball rolling and the loans are in my name, but without the other people that work here, it wouldn’t be real, and it wouldn’t be possible, and it wouldn’t be valuable. These people get up every day and come in here and are kind and creative, they help people feel beautiful and more comfortable in their bodies. They’re the finest group of humans I have ever worked with and without them there wouldn’t be a Strange Beauty.
