We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In 2022, my current business partner, Christie Stewart, and I found ourselves planning out a new career path. We both had met each other about 7 years prior while working together under another design firm in the Raleigh area. Talks of our boss’ retirement led Christie and I to launch Studio JC at the end of 2022. Christie and I were ready and Studio JC was the most logical way to continue our design careers.

What should our readers know about your business?
Studio JC is a full-service interior design firm based out of Cary, NC and founded by Christie Stewart and I. We assist clients in all types of design projects including furnishings, renovations, and new constructions. Many years of education, design, and learning are behind the creation of Studio JC. Owning our own business is not easy and comes with many challenges. One of my personal challenges has been the fear of the unknown, which I constantly overcome by jumping in and trusting that I will learn and solve any problems along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With the recent opening of the Downtown Cary Park, I’d spend a day visiting the park with our dogs and grabbing a drink at The Bark Bar. We’d probably continue our day by grabbing some food at Scratch Kitchen & Taproom followed by some ice cream at Fresh (if our stomachs allowed it)!

We’d probably spend a morning checking out my favorite gym, CrossFit TTG, make sure we find a free afternoon to do some shopping at Fenton, and maybe even a quick beach trip to Wrightsville.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This Shoutout is dedicated to my risk-taking fiancé, Travis, who has shown so much support throughout this major change in my life.
