We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeannie Burgess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeannie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Restored Hope Therapy makes a huge impact in our community. We strive to walk alongside families as they navigate needing extra support for their child. We provide pediatric occupational therapy at our clinic but also providing mobile services in family’s homes, daycares/preschools, and within the community. We help children navigate functional play skills, emotional regulation, sensory processing concerns, fine motor skills, self-dressing, self-feeding, and executive functioning skills. Our therapists provide extra support and caregiver education/training to teachers as well. We continue to see an increasing need for occupational therapy for children. Our company has grown from 1 therapist to now a team of 16 in 3 years.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My biggest take away from stepping out to start my business is to remember the impact that we are having in children’s life. It’s the push to keep going every day. It has not been easy at all. Navigating the world of insurance has been challenging but pushing myself to continue to grow, network and educate myself daily is a must. My faith in God has been the major help to overcome hard days. I remember that I was made for a purpose, and I get to live my purpose every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Cabarrus County is a wonderful family friendly spot. We would catch a movie at the GEM Theater, watch a baseball game at the Atrium Cannon Ballers Stadium with a firework finale. You can’t start your day without heading to Verb Coffee for clean organic coffee/products. For a meal we would stop by Mykonos for a Greek meal. Then for a relaxing massage/facial/spa experience, right here in Mt Pleasant the Salt and Light is a must.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
During the process of stepping out to open my business, my Pastor Davon Alexander was not only an encouraging supporter but a mentor in leadership. He provided wise counsel while also challenging me to strive for excellence. Through his mentorship, I was able to really pinpoint our business’s core values of integrity, respect, and generosity. There were times in the beginning that I wanted to give up. It can be very lonely as a small business owner. Pastor Davon made sure to push me forward in fulfilling my purpose to help these children, their families, and also provide a positive work environment for my therapists. I will forever be thankful for the push, encouragement and wisdom Pastor Davon provided.
