Meet Jaxxon Tucker | Creative Director, Photographer, Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaxxon Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaxxon, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Charlotte, North Carolina. I grew up on the east side of the city. My background made me who I am, I would spend a lot of time with my grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We’d spend a lot of time watching movies, especially old black and white movies on AMC. I think it impacted me because I come from a really artistic and creative family. A lot of my childhood I looked at my family do their art in their various mediums and that inspired me to do that in my own way and to put my own spin on things.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A lot of my art is based on how I view life. I don’t just take pictures or record videos I capture moments, emotions, and experiences in their purest form. I want my audience to feel something when they see my work. Whether it’s the joy of being surrounded by friends at a party, the raw passion of an artist mid-performance, or the adrenaline-pumping aggression of a mosh pit, I strive to translate those feelings into visuals that resonate with people. One of the things I’m most proud of is my progress. I didn’t start out as an expert I wasn’t someone who just naturally knew how to shoot or edit. I had to teach myself, to struggle through the process of getting better. I started taking photography and videography seriously three years ago, and just last year, I took the leap into creative directing. The journey hasn’t been easy. I spent countless late nights until 3, 4, sometimes even 5 in the morning perfecting edits, figuring out how to improve my work, and learning everything I could about my gear and the craft. YouTube became my best teacher, but beyond that, it was my persistence that got me to where I am today. There were moments of doubt, times when I wondered if I was doing the right thing, but I kept pushing forward. Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just something I do it’s my purpose. I create because I believe in the power of storytelling through visuals. I want people to see my work and not just admire it but “feel” it. More than that, I want to inspire others to chase their own dreams, no matter how difficult the journey may seem. I’ve learned that anything can be overcome, and anything can be accomplished if you put your all into it and stay consistent. Growth isn’t easy it’s not supposed to be. But if you embrace the process, stay dedicated, and trust yourself, you’ll become something even greater than you ever imagined. And that’s the message I want my work to carry not just for myself, but for anyone who’s ever doubted what they’re capable of achieving.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m in Greensboro right now for school. If I were showing my friend around, I’d take them to some of my favorite spots, starting with Hippo Records and Acme Comics. I’ve always been into records and comic books, so those places are like second homes to me. We’d spend some time digging through crates, checking out new finds, and probably debating over which album or issue to grab. After that, we’d head over to Standout on Elm Street to do some thrifting. It’s always a good spot to find some unique pieces, and you never know what gems you’ll come across. Once we’ve copped a couple of solid pieces, we’d take a stroll down Elm Street, soaking in the energy of the city before stopping at Poke Bowl to grab some smoothies definitely a go-to for something fresh. From there, we’d hit the mall and just walk around for a bit, maybe check out a few stores, vibe, and just take it easy before the night picks up. And to wrap it all up, we’d end the night at a College Daze party because there’s no better way to experience Greensboro’s energy than being in the middle of a packed-out event, surrounded by good music, good people, and moments worth remembering.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a huge shoutout to my Grandma she’s my favorite person in the world. She’s always been so supportive of me, encouraging me to keep going with my creative projects, even when things get tough. Her belief in me means everything, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her constant love and motivation. I also want to shout out my creative friends. The people I’ve met along the way who inspire me, push me, and support me in ways that keep me motivated. Having a circle of like-minded individuals who understand the grind and share the same passion for creating is something I truly appreciate. And I can’t forget about my two mentees, Eian and Glen. These two mean a lot to me, and I hold them near and dear. I want to be a great mentor for them not just creatively, but also in life. My goal is to provide a solid foundation for their success, whether that’s academically, socially, or in their own creative pursuits. Seeing them grow and develop their talents fuels my drive even more, and I hope to be someone they can always look up to and count on.
