Meet Janessa Saunders | Behavioral Health and Communication Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janessa Saunders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janessa, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
Expressive Coaching’s end goal is to provide adults and children with the tools to demonstrate the highest level of integrity, compassion, and determination. By the end of my career, I would like to own one of the world’s largest and most influential coaching organizations.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Behavioral Health and Communication Coach I have the coaching skills to work with a diverse population. I love what I do. There’s no other way to put it. I take the time to get to know my clients. I want to know their vision. I want to know what’s holding them back from the next level and why. I am most excited about the new Expressive Coaching Children’s Leadership program. My Project Manager Intern, Olivia, is a young teen and she is amazing! Olivia has been working hard on our first presentation so I cannot wait for the others to see a young leader lead others her age and younger. Getting to where I am now was challenging. It was challenging because my vision was so big and I am so passionate about my business. I had to gather the right resources and challenge myself. To overcome those challenges, I had to stay positive during those challenging times. I will be honest, those times were hard but I did not want to quit. I exercised 3-4 times per week, created healthy friendships, tapped into my spiritual side, and recognized when I needed a mental break. The most valuable lesson I have learned along the way is to believe in yourself. I want the world to know that Expressive Coaching loves making a positive impact in others’ lives. I love collaborating with people who are ready to make a change.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents have provided so much love and encouragement throughout my coaching career. Growing up, I was always told that I was a confident and great leader. I started as a teacher but always knew I wanted to do more. I knew I wanted to make an impact in the world in another way but just was not sure what that looked like. I made that huge jump and decided to go back to college full-time while working full-time (yes, silly me!). My parents reassured me that I could do it and that they would help me in any way if I ever needed it. I have to be honest, going back for another master’s is not cheap! They continued to tell me that I had a gift and it needed to be shared with the world. Without my parent’s love and encouragement, I am not sure if I would have had the courage to follow my dreams and create a coaching business.
