Meet Jamelle | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamelle, how do you define success?
I’ve changed how I define success. Success is a term that is relative to each person. What one person thinks of as success can be totally different to another person. To me, success is how I impact people. How they remember me. How I made them feel. As an artist, if my art touches 1 single person in a positive way then Im successful!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I try to be as authentic as I can be. In the world of art and entertainment, especially in the social media era, there is a push to portray yourself in a certain light. I try to be as authentic and genuine to who I am as a person. No gimmicks, no tricks, just me. I try to make sure that comes through in my music.
It wasn’t easy to get to where I am now. There were challenges & obstacles and times I considered quitting but thankfully I was blessed with people who encouraged me to keep pushing ahead. And that’s what I mean about being authentic. Even artists deal with self doubt, frustration, second guessing yourself, fear etc. It’s natural to feel those things. You just have to keep pushing one day at a time and remain true to who you are.
I want the world to know that I didn’t just start on the journey overnight. I’ve been putting in the work for years and soon the world will catch up!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Mediterranean food. There’s an amazing Mediterranean restaurant I would take them. I also love wine and wineries so we would for sure have to visit one of those. You can never go wrong with a good glass of wine. I’m a huge sports fan also so catching a basketball game (shout out to the Celtics) is also a must.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to thank all the people who believe in me and my artistic gift. People have invested their time coming to see and hear me live or those who have purchased my music, downloaded it, shared it with someone else, posted it etc. All those things matter and are important. I don’t take it for granted. So to everyone who has supported me and believed in me over the years, a very special shout out to you!
