We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Dyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My sister and I have recommended certain skincare products during our time as healthcare providers. Although these products have been very effective in creating healthy and youthful complexions, they have been very expensive for our patients. We felt that we had a great opportunity to develop a skincare line that checked all the boxes we would want; effective, elegant, targeted, natural ingredients, and affordable.

We took years to develop a line and partner with companies that could help us create a skincare line that we believed in. Our mission to give back led us to create a line that uses ocean friendly ingredients, and environmentally responsible packaging.

What should our readers know about your business?
We want people to know we are not celebrities just throwing our name on a product – this sets us apart from other skincare lines. My sister and I have developed this line using our medical knowledge to ensure that our product and the ingredients we use are effective, safe, and targeted. My sister, Elena has been a dermatology PA for over 20 years with extensive experience treating skin. Heather is a nurse practitioner in internal medicine and treats a variety of conditions.

We were not business people when we started Save The Wave Skincare, we were medical providers that had a passion and knowledge of what we would want in the perfect skincare line. We had a steep learning curve on how to start, develop, and promote a business.

 

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live out side of the Raleigh area where golf is life! Pinehurst has a number of amazing golf courses that are known around the world. The village of Pinehurst is such a quaint and adorable town to explore. Just outside, Southern Pines, is known for incredible restaurants, adorable boutiques, and even a huge bar + arcade called Rec Room that just opened recently. We love to bring people there for amazing drinks, food trucks, arcade games – fun for the whole family
