Meet Hannah Davis | Photographer/Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Most people don’t know this, but I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 9 years old. I sold candy with my younger sister, walked peoples dogs and raked their leaves. I would even clean houses as I got older. So being business minded was already in my spirit. When I got older and graduated from college, starting a business made sense after a while because I liked being on my own time and I liked doing something that didn’t feel like a job. Photography and videography has never felt like a job to me. It’s always felt like an outlet.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider my art to be authentic and candid. I love capturing people when they least expect it, when they aren’t posing and are just enjoying themselves. I think those are the best photos/videos. I would say I’m most proud of my growth as a photographer and videographer. I’ve been doing photography for four years now and videography for a little over a year and I still get excited about learning something new and seeing how far I’ve come. I got to where I am today just by continuing to grow and always putting myself out there. It was nowhere near easy, there were years where I wasn’t profitable at all and wanted to give up. But I just surrounded myself with people who saw the vision just like me and who were also understanding of entrepreneurship.
More than anything I’ve learned that nothing happens overnight and as people always say, anything worth having isn’t easy. I’ve learned to focus on one thing at a time instead of trying to multitask and to be consistent if you want results. I think my brand is the definition of authentic and pure joy. I portray that a lot through my clients and love doing so.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I live in Durham so I’m close to Raleigh, Cary, and Chapel Hill. But if my best friend was coming into town for a week long trip, I’d take her to my favorite spots of the town: Hunky Dory (A vinyl record store), Burger Bach, Heavenly Buffaloes, Sushi Love, Boxcar Bar & Arcade, and an escape room. I’d also probably visit some of my favorite dessert spots like Funnel Me Crazy and Simon Says Dip and walk around Downtown Durham.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who deserve a shoutout for my success. God of course for guiding me into this career, my parents and sisters. But in terms of people who I feel have really pushed me during my tough times and seen my through it, I have to give a special shoutout to my boyfriend CJ and my mentor Phillip. They are two of my biggest supporters and best friends. They really keep me going in this process of entrepreneurship and challenge me to step out of comfort zone often.
