Meet Hallie Pister | Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hallie Pister and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hallie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I did not set out to turn wedding photography into a business. Let alone a career that has taken over my life! I started photography in 2018 for fun, and would photograph friends to practice shooting in manual. Then a friend reached out to me about photographing his wedding, and everything snowballed from there! I genuinely feel like I didn’t choose weddings, but instead they chose me. In 2021 I decided to pursue this as a legal business just to see where it would go. Filing to make Opal House a real business was just a practice in saying “Yes” to new things. And now it’s become so much more!
What should our readers know about your business?
My wedding photography brand is called Opal House Wedding Co.! I specialize in large-scale weddings within the luxury wedding industry. I consider myself an editorial-focused photographer, which means I incorporate a mixture of artistic posing, photojournalism, and movement-based prompting to provide my clients with incredible, magazine-worthy photos that truly bring their wedding dreams to life.
Something that sets Opal House Wedding Co. apart from other wedding photography brands is our emphasis on a full-service experience that is custom tailored to each individual couple I serve. Every client I work with receives full day photography coverage from me and my team to ensure every moment is captured. But the approach my team and I utilize on a wedding day is tweaked to better fit the desires of each couple. Some couples want more posing guidance or someone to be in the background and capture candid moments. I hold space for Opal House brides to tell me what approach works best for them and adjust accordingly.
All of this came about because I felt like I pinpointed a gap in the market when I began poking and prodding at the desires and pain points of luxury brides. There were too many options between packages and offerings from other service providers in the industry and not enough customization from creatives to ensure an approach that would truly capture who they authentically are.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My business would not be possible without my husband, so I would like to dedicate this shoutout to him. He has worked tirelessly as our sole provider for quite some time in order to let me pursue wedding photography even when I was making no money. I love you so much, Trevor.
