We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Pyszczynski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greg, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I worked in a professional setting for 17 years. The last of those years were spent with one business. There was a staff change, and one morning in December 2022, just over a week before Christmas, I was told my services would no longer be needed. At the time, we had a 16-month-old, and a second child was due in February. My stomach hit the floor.

That moment changed everything. I decided I would never let my family’s “security” be dictated by anyone other than myself. My wife and I talked in detail and decided to pursue our dreams – to create the life we wanted. We chose to view it as a “free” ticket to go anywhere in the country and start our journey.

After watching countless YouTube videos on different cities and areas, we decided on Raleigh, North Carolina. Neither of us had ever been there, and we knew no one in the area. We just went! We sold our first home, the home where our kids were born and we walked into after getting married. We packed up what we could fit in a U-Haul, drove across the country from Iowa, and started our new life.

Many people have lists of wants and things they “should” have done. We decided to take action and change our wants into needs and what we should do into what we must do. We started our businesses for a reason. We had something to prove to ourselves. We believed in ourselves when other people didn’t. The world is full of no’s, lost dreams, dead ideas, and acceptance of the status quo. We built something that inspires people that they are capable of greatness – a place for “THE END” you need for the “THE START” you must.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
“A child being raised by a parent who is not in pursuit of their potential or their dreams is a stealthy form of child neglect,” is a quote by Ed Mylett. This is what I think about when it comes to starting our business and the impact on raising our children. We didn’t want to tell our kids, “You can grow up and be anything you want,” when we weren’t.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a hard question as we’ve only lived here 13 months and when we moved here our kids were 4 months and 25 months old while trying to start two new businesses so we haven’t been out much!

But getting to Pleasant park with the kids has always been a great experience. Tons for them to do.

I think it’s always great to get people not from the area to experience the “green way trails.” Out of all the places I have lived across the country I have never experienced anything like that before.

The North Carolina State Farmers Public Market is always on our list to go to no matter the time of year.

Depending on the time of the year the beach is always on our summer to do list. We were able to share that our experience with our kids the first summer we moved here and have planned to do so every year!

Osha Thai Kitchen and Sushi, is an awesome atmosphere, unbelievable food and a place we always look to take people. Our local favorite is Garibaldi Trattoria Pizza & Pasta in Fuquay-Varina!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Cassandra. Without which I do not know if I would ever finish anything! She is the structure to my chaos. My sons Ronin and Atlas. Every day they remind me to smile. The three of them are a daily reminder to refuse to let down those who believe in me.
