Hi Emily Cooley & Kaley Eads, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Sitting Made Simple® is a babysitting company that connects vetted sitters with families, businesses and organizations. SMS® was started in Columbus Ohio in 2008 and began branching out into other cities. Kaley had worked as a sitter for the Indianapolis location and saw firsthand how beneficial the job was for college students and young professionals, as well the the blessing the company was to families. We both understood the challenges surrounding finding reliable childcare, as well as the special relationship between the SMS® sitters and families. We made the decision as sisters to open up SMS® Raleigh in March of 2019 and it’s truly been an amazing experience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our office dedicates a lot of time and energy recruiting, vetting and maintaining relationships with our sitter team. With SMS® there is a community behind it and we value our sitters and their commitment to the company. What makes us different is that we offer backup care to families and businesses. We offer before/after school care, part-time, full-time care in addition to evenings, weekends and last minute needs. Our office is available 24/7, and we are locally owned and operated and really strive to provide that support to all of our members. We continue to grow and evolve as a company to better assist the needs of families. There are so many families moving into the area that are needing to rebuild their community, we hope to become a part of their village.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We absolutely love all that the Triangle has to offer. One of our favorite activities is to watch the Canes play, there is nothing like attending a game! There are so many great spots to eat, it’s hard to pick just one, but it’s always a win to go to Morgan Street because everyone can find something they love there and it’s such a unique spot downtown. North Hills has some amazing shopping and great places to stop in and get a treat as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are so lucky to have had support from our families from day one, it’s because of their support that we are here today. We have had the opportunity to connect with so many amazing organizations and businesses during the last four and a half years. The community behind SMS® is special, there are other locations, owners and an entire village rooting each other on behind the scenes. We have an amazing group of sitters that continue to provide our members with wonderful experiences and we are so thankful!
