Meet Elizabeth Gilbeaux | Wax Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Gilbeaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, how does your business help the community?
TVB Wax Center has a social impact on the community by providing a safe, comfortable and clean environment for the individuals in the Greensboro and surrounding areas. It’s very important that I use quality products and give quality service. Being a waxer is a very intimate service, and being a person who can be trusted is a must. I’ve spent years perfecting the art of waxing, I’m not the fastest, but I will get the hairs so you will be happy to return.
What should our readers know about your business?
TVB Wax Center exists because of the connections I’m able to make with my clients. The connections and relationships, are why I’ve had some clients over 4 years, and it sets me apart from other waxers.
I’m most proud because I’ve been able to believe in myself, there were times that I didn’t believe in myself or my ability, and I had to overcome that.
To be where I am today was far from easy, I started at Ulta in 2018, at that time I was pregnant with my second daughter. She was born in Oct. 2018, I got a job at a spa in Dec. 2018. I worked for that spa until 2023, moved up to a lead esthetician, before I was let go in 2023. In March 2023, I started at Waxing the City, it was revealed by God to me in May 2023 that I would open my own business and what the name would be. TVB stands for The Very Best, I’ve never questioned the name because I was told the name.
There’s no secret sauce, you can’t give up and you have to be yourself. If you show up everyday, authentically, miracles will find you.
I want the world to know, you can do anything you put your mind to, keep going and don’t be scared to take a step back to take a step forward. God is working it all out for your good.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here are the places I would take my friend if she was coming to stay for a week in Greensboro:
Monday: we could go to brunch at Scrambled, located off Spring Garden St., they have the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve eaten a lot of shrimp and grits. After we have brunch, we could take a walk in Country Park to get some fresh air and catch up.
Tuesday: we could visit the International Civil Rights Center & Museum, located at 134 S. Elm St., before having dinner at Kabuto’s Japanese Steakhouse.
Wednesday: self-care is always needed, I would recommend scheduling a facial with Kay Williams, Owner of the Skin Therapy Studio, and of course she would get her lashes done by the wonderful Heavenly McFadden, Owner of Bliss Lashes.
Thursday: I’m a mom so we would have to spend a day with the kiddos. I love taking them to the Greensboro Science Center and the Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum. We may also visit the Greensboro Public Library.
Friday: Before my friend goes home we would head to Marjae’s Wine and Cocktail Bar, 1107 Grenade St., to have a few drinks. After a drink, we would visit Maxie B’s for a sweet treat.
I love to show my friends a great time when they visit.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this article to my parents, without Jerome Gilbeaux and Sandy Conley, I wouldn’t have been exposed to serving the African American community with beauty products growing up. The days of selling haircare, makeup and equipment door to door is where my love for beauty began.
I would also like to thank any client who allowed me to give them a facial, chemical peel, sell a product, give a wax and reschedule a service during my esthetician career. I started out as a newbie in 2018, and I had to work to the place where I am today, one client at a time.
My love for waxing came over time, and I want to send a special thank you for all clients of TVB Wax Center. I’m so grateful!
