Meet Delores Powell-Stewart | CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Delores Powell-Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Delores, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was to become an independent business owner so I could work for myself and provide opportunities to other minorities. Along with building a legacy to leave behind to my Family.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are a FM Hip Hop and R&B radio station that caters to the community. It was not easy to get the doors open. We turned down a couple opportunities until we found the best way to get started through much research over a couple of years. I am most proud of our Community Outreach programs and events we host. We want the world to know we are a proud Women & Black owned business that gives back to our community.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not sure about a week but say on a Saturday a great start would be to grab breakfast at one of our signature fast food chains the Waffle House. Then I would recommend to visit one of our many museums we have to offer. For Lunch I would head over to our staple buffet Golden Corral. Then I would head over to Pullen Park for the afternoon. As evening sets in I would head downtown to grab dinner at one of our many fine dinning establishments followed with a night of dancing. After leaving the dance club on the way home a great late night stop for a quick treat is heading to one of our many Krispy Kreme’s especially if you see the light on stating the donuts are fresh.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my nephew DY Powell for helping me build our dream business & family legacy. I would also like to shout out my husband Shawn Stewart for his support and sacrifices that allowed me the time and ability to make the leap start my own business. I would also like to shout out all of the Powell family who has supported me through this journey.
