Meet Dee’anna Alyse | Full time creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee’anna Alyse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dee’Anna, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose to pursue a creative career because, nothing else made sense. Growing up in a religious home and being taught that I was an extension of my creator, it only made sense for me to also be a creator. I have always had a desire to create. I love telling stories. I love bringing my imagination to life in various forms of expression. Especially with my understanding of self, I found out as an adult that I am autistic, so my very being demands that I operate outside of the traditional understanding how I “should” be. Being a creative is the only thing that really works for me long term. I’ve tried the traditional 9-5 and it just doesn’t feed my soul like being a full time creative does. Whether I’m on set or in the studio, that’s where I excel, effort wise, because the possibilities of how I can perform are endless! That’s the way I want to live my life; constantly reaffirming that the possibilities are endless.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other creatives is the fact that there’s basically nothing I don’t believe I can do. I believe very firmly that if I can imagine it, I can make it happen. I don’t accept limitations of any sort.
I am where I am today because I believed I’d be here. And i wasn’t easy. I came through so much doubt and resistance but I finally got to a point where I was tired of accepting the opposite of what I desired. So I decided to reclaim my power and remind myself that my dreams are always within reach!
I’ve learned how to persist through all adversity because this is my world.
What I want the world to know about my story is that: your mind is more powerful than you allow yourself to accept. The minute that clicks for you is the minute everything shifts in your favor.
I’m most proud of the way I landed my modeling contract. I told myself exactly how I wanted to get signed and though it took longer than I expected, it still happened exactly how I wanted it to. I just had to be receptive to that reality. I set out for NY last February and said I was coming home with a contract and I got it within 24 hours of touching down in the city.
I want people to know that all they have to do is tell themselves what they desire is already theirs. That’s all you have to do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place I’d take them is my favorite mom and pop restaurant, Flavors. It’s a soul food restaurant around the corner from my house and every time I eat there, it genuinely reminds me that life is worth living and that love is so important. Then I’d take them my favorite lake to just be in nature for a bit and appreciate the beauty of my hometown’s flora and fauna. Then I’d take them out to downtown Raleigh to show them the nightlife and the local creative scene.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family for sure. I strongly believe the family I come from is my primary motivation for the way I show up as a creative. I come from a long line of creatives that ended up choosing more traditional paths in life. I want to be one of the first people in my family to commit to my creativity because I believe it is very realistic to be able to live the life you want while also being your full self! Whether that’s singing, or acting, or designing clothes, or modeling. And I’d also like to credit learning the law of assumption. Understanding that law has completely changed my life because it reminded me of my personal power.
