We had the good fortune of connecting with Deanna Holt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deanna, do you have a budget? How do you make lifestyle and spending decisions?
In the beginning my budget was the max amount of credit I had on my small personal credit card that I opened to use for the business. Every month I would only spend that amount and would not spend anymore until it was paid off. Over the past three years my business has grown significantly and I find myself spending a lot more money however the principal still stays the same. I aim to keep payroll and overhead costs below the amount that we bring in each month. As of yet, I have chosen to not take a salary from the business for myself and instead put that money back into the business to support more growth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a certified registered nurse anesthetist. Typically someone with that degree works in a hospital operating room. We also work in other places like ambulatory surgery centers or dental clinics that require sedation to be administered. I opened my medical spa after taking a course in aesthetic injectables because I enjoyed the change of pace. Currently I still work in an operating room providing anesthesia several days a week. When I’m not working there, you can find me dedicating the rest of my time to my medical spa. Working two full time jobs has been very challenging and at times I do wonder why I continue to work so hard, especially since I don’t currently pay myself in the business. However my long term goal is to build a self sustaining company that profits every month without requiring my involvement. Passive income in my ultimate goal.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite area in Fayetteville is downtown. There are so many good restaurants and bars all within walking distance. There are several cute boutiques that I love to shop in and segra stadium for the local baseball team is so much fun to attend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt the group of ladies that work with me deserve just as much recognition as I do for the success of our business. They are the best support group and help me carry out every single one of my ideas, no matter how crazy. From painting and installing cabinets on day one to representing our company out in the community , my team of estheticians, nurses and physician assistants continue to impress me with their level of dedication and hard work. I am so blessed to have them on my team and can’t imagine having this business without them.
