Meet David Scott | Professional Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was younger I always admired watching my Mother’s work when it came to recording weddings and taking the time to always make sure when there’s a gathering, a picture was captured. This helped create so many memories that I still appreciate to this day. She helped me understand the small things of making sure that everyone was included and I wanted to do the same for my generation with everything being so fast paced now. My parents heard that I was interested in getting into professional photography and for my birthday they bought my first starter camera. Since then I’ve been growing, learning and it helped me upgrade my equipment to provide better quality to my work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I went to North Carolina A&T State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Engineering Technology. I currently work for SoFi Technologies as a Senior Information Technology Asset Management Specialist in Charlotte, NC. The road to where I am in my career was not easy but I enjoyed every bit of the process. At one point I steered away from Information Technology but that helped me realized how much I truly loved it. I believe that everyone should have a healthy work life balance that allows them to enjoy every day life rather that be working a 9-5 or taking part in entrepreneurship. IT has given me that comfort that I’m forever grateful for and keeps me engaged in changes and innovations. I love my job just as much as I love photography.
I want the world to know that with every session I conduct with my clients, there’s a warm, comfortable experience that makes you feel like we’re family. I ensure the client made the right choice by staying engaged throughout our sessions, giving them confidence within themselves and always making a smile go across their faces from beginning to end. My idea is to bring what you envisioned to life and when you go back to look at the photos taken, it takes you back to that day and how happy it made you. “Heatvizion Photography – Creating Lifetime Memories”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One thing that I love about Charlotte is that there’s always something to do. I was born in Goldsboro, NC but was raised in Raleigh, NC that gives you a similar feel to the city especially when going downtown. I love sports so going to a Carolina Panthers or a Charlotte Hornets game brings me much joy. Even after those festivities the night life and downtown atmosphere is always so refreshing and you’re bound to create new friends with how welcoming the city is overall. Moving here was the best thing to ever happen to me and also showed me that the sky is the limit, there’s so much to do.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One thing that I love about photography is how welcoming and easy it is to connect with others in this industry. Though everyone can have the same camera, lens or equipment, nobody has the same eye or style. This creates a comfortable space to share knowledge and experiences to help others grow especially in their early stages of photography. I have to shoutout Scott McGregor for showing me this early in my career. He willingly always gave me tips on ways for me to improve my work and shared his knowledge from the experiences he had throughout the years. Over time I found others doing the same for one another and fell even more in love with photography.
