Meet Dave Bradley | Record store owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dave Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dave, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
There really was no thought process other than both of us wanting to do our own thing & break away from the 9-5’s we had. I had always wanted to work in a record store since my early teen years & later that changed to wanting to own one. we both are collectors & were selling records at Record shows /flea markets & antique malls/eBay, etc., so why not take a chance and open a shop?
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are primarily a Record store that deals with both new and used vinyl, CDs & cassettes. We also carry comics, Shirts, posters anything music related. We started with our own inventory of records & other vintage items we had accumulated with the intent of being an all-things vintage shop. We both are into midcentury art /furniture & also Pop Culture of the 1960’s-70’s. It didn’t take us long to see that the vinyl was taking over sales wise so we turned away from the other stuff to make the room for the records. we are a small shop so no use in wasting the space on the slower moving items. We pride ourselves with both our quality & selection of vinyl.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If in Roanoke you have to visit the Mill Mountain star, maybe lunch at the Texas Tavern then hit The Candy Store downtown followed by some afternoon beers at Parkway brewing. maybe take in a show at The Spot on Kirk or The Flying Panther then off to shutdown the neighborhood watering hole Community Inn.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
both our wives & girlfriends & families for believing & encouraging us to go for it
