Meet Darina Shtepa | Tattoo Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darina Shtepa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At a certain point in my career, it was important for me to try myself as a studio owner—to understand all sides of the profession, not just the creative aspects, but also the management side. I opened a small studio and gained valuable experience: I learned how to organize workflows, make decisions, and take full responsibility. It required a lot of energy, time, and resources.
Now, I work at Ghost Tattoo Studio, a well-established studio in Charlotte, and I truly enjoy being part of a strong team. I appreciate the opportunity to fully focus on my art. I have more time to develop my projects, connect with clients, draw, and continue learning—because only a fool believes they already know everything. Right now, I’m living my passion and genuinely enjoying it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work helps people feel more beautiful, confident, and free. I cover scars from burns and surgeries, correct old or poorly done tattoos — and I see how it changes the way my clients feel about themselves. They start to love their bodies more, accept themselves, and with that, their lives often begin to change too. Some find love, others get promoted, and many simply smile more. I don’t take credit for these changes, but it truly brings me joy to be part of someone’s transformation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am truly grateful to my family for their unwavering support and belief in me throughout this journey
