Meet Daniel Rivera | Songwriter and Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Life is all about risk and reward. Learning how to process and mitigate risk are key. The unknowns in life are scary and exist for all of us, but they’re what make life worth it. They’re what teach us. About the world, about ourselves and about each other. Being an aspiring musician is a huge risk. There are plenty of other choices that I could have taken my career path, but I knew I wouldn’t be as happy. That’s the reward but the risk comes in if you don’t succeed which the percentage of failure is high. But it depends on how you look at it at the end of the day. You can always flip failure into success, but that just comes with being someone who doesn’t accept failure.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is my curiosity. I love learning about different subjects, subdivisions, delving deep and really appreciating all of the different things life has to offer. It bleeds into my art. In lots of ways it’s hard for my art to land in a space, because there are so many spaces that I am influenced by. But that’s what makes me who I am. There are so many things about this world that are special. What has me most excited is discovery, I am always looking for something to discover, whether musically, artistically, scientifically, historically, business wise, entertainment, whatever it may be. I love the unknown and I love things that are new. I got to where I am by being consistent and fueling everything I do with my love for art. It was not easy but it also wasn’t too hard. Being a lawyer, working construction, a brain surgeon. Those things seem hard, although creating new ideas may be challenging, saying it’s hard is, hard to say. The only way to overcome challenges is by continuing to push through, every day is a new day and new opportunity to attack your goals and face your challenges. Sometimes things don’t work out, but that’s okay because in all art forms, there is more than one way to do things. I want the world to know that living is worth it. Experiencing and finding out what life has to offer you is necessary. We owe it to those that come before us and go afterwards to live our lives to the fullest.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It depends on the season here in Raleigh, NC. The weather changes so quickly and drastically! If it was the summer we definitely would have to drive out to some of the great nature we have out here. During the week we have to go to one of the lakes or go hiking at one of our parks. Probably have to catch a cool film playing at the Alamo. Go to Fenton eat at one of the nice restaurants there, have some gelato. We got some many bars all over the city that all offer a unique vibe. Probably hit up Glenwood, fayetville st. Maybe one of the latin clubs depending on which one of my friends comes down.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s so many people who support me in lots of ways. My family always has my back and is there for everything I do. Even if they don’t understand what I’m doing a lot of the time, they are front and center ready to show love or do whatever needs to be done. And when I say family I mean blood but also just those that are close to me.
