We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cindy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks has been the heartbeat of our nonprofit journey. We view risks not as obstacles, but as opportunities for growth and impact. Embracing the unknown has allowed us to challenge the status quo, pioneering innovative approaches to empower future leaders. In the realm of scholarships and community building, we recognize that without venturing into uncharted territories, we cannot unearth the untapped potential that lies within individuals and communities. Our commitment to taking calculated risks propels us forward, shaping a legacy that goes beyond conventional boundaries, making a lasting difference in the lives we touch.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our organization, the Do It 4 W Foundation (DI4W), stands out by fostering an infinite network for future generations, driven by a commitment to character development through Faith, Athletics, Academics, and Leadership. What sets us apart is the holistic approach we take, recognizing that each element plays a crucial role in shaping well-rounded individuals.

Our proudest achievement is the impact we’ve had on young lives through scholarships, totaling $32,000 awarded to date (since 2019). We’re excited about our recent initiatives, such as the DI4W Legacy Network, a community hub fostering collaboration and networking among scholarship recipients, supporters, and like-minded individuals.

The journey hasn’t been without challenges, but overcoming them has been a testament to our resilience. The key lesson learned is the power of community and collaboration. We’ve grown stronger by involving the community in our events, building partnerships, and adapting to the evolving needs of those we serve.

What we want the world to know is that our brand is more than just scholarships; it’s about building a supportive legacy network that empowers individuals to reach their full potential. We’re not just awarding funds; we’re creating a platform for future leaders to connect, share, and thrive together. Our story is one of continuous growth, resilience, and a deep commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of those we touch.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Embarking on a week-long adventure in the vibrant towns of Garner, Raleigh, Apex, Cary, and surrounding towns promises an exciting blend of local charm and diverse experiences. Begin your journey in Garner with a delightful morning at Muse Coffee, setting the tone for a relaxed day exploring the scenic beauty of Lake Benson Park. Transitioning to Raleigh, savor lunch or dinner at The Willard and immerse yourself in the artistic wonders of the NC Museum of Art. As the sun sets, discover the delights of Bowstring, offering diverse options in a lively atmosphere.

Start your day with a leisurely stroll through downtown Apex and a coffee break at Uncommon Grounds. Venture into Apex for a delightful dinner at Peak on Salem, where a sophisticated menu awaits. Cary’s Fenton area becomes a delightful destination for shopping and exploration, complemented by a Tex-Mex feast at Superica. The week concludes with a revisit to familiar spots or the discovery of new favorites, ensuring an unforgettable exploration of these vibrant North Carolina communities. Enjoy the diverse flavors, artistic gems, and scenic parks that each town has to offer!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, our journey wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of our dedicated team (my sons, Brighton & Jordan), selfless volunteers, and the community at large. A special shoutout is due to the reason we started this organization, W.C. Hudson Jr., whose legacy continues to inspire us. We’re also immensely grateful for the local organizations, mentors, and partners who have shared their wisdom and resources, propelling us forward. Every supporter, donor, and participant in our events contributes to the collaborative spirit that defines our success. Additionally, we owe credit to the many voices that have shaped our narrative – from influential books that sparked ideas to the collective strength of the communities we serve. This shoutout is a testament to the interconnected web of support that fuels our mission and reinforces our commitment to empowering future generations.
