Meet Christopher Evans | Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was that I wanted to be free. I didn’t want any restrictions on how i could develop as an artist and as a man. So, I knew quitting my job and creating my own way to earn income would allow me full control with my time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First, I like to create what makes ME feel good. I enjoy having a loose idea for a painting and letting it come out in the most nonresistant way. Meaning I intentionally don’t think when I’m painting because I understand I’m not in control anyway. I want to create art that makes people feel. I am most proud about owning my own Art Gallery! I’m excited that I realized that there are NO RULES IN ART. Before I was a gallery owner, I was a gallery owner lol. Only in my mind, I visualized walking around in my gallery talking about my art. Even before that, when I was a little bitty boy, I was drawing all the time. I would draw any and everywhere I could. Art always seemed easy to me, from the very beginning. I did have challenges along the way, but looking back at all of them they were necessary lessons that I use today. So now I am grateful for challenges! Some of the important lessons that I’ve learned along the way are: Self Love is the best love (go within and learn about who you are), hard work works, treat people how you would like to be treated, don’t take it personal, give generously, always practice self-discipline. I would like the world to know that I want everyone to win! My brand is Good Trip, which means good energy, good vibes, positivity, and love.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, I would take them to check in at the “Art-infused 4BR/3BA Home with Movie Room near Lake” Apex Airbnb property that is completely filled with beautiful Good Trip Gallery art! Next, I would take them to the dopest gallery in the city, Good Trip Gallery. Then I would take them to get a savory bite from the best restaurant in the city, Flavor Hills! Then we’d head over to grab a delicious cocktail from the best bar in Raleigh, The Hay Maker. After we kind of sober up from that, I’d take them to the Hudson Condominiums where they can relax and see over 20 pieces of original art hanging by yours truly. Leaving there, we’d visit other cool places in the city like Raleigh Raw, The Nest, The Commons, Rolley, The Big Easy, Chef’s Palette, Southline Brewing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There isn’t enough room here for me to list all of the great people that have had a hand in where I am and who I am today. I am very grateful for everyone that has supported my journey in any kind of way, thank you! Doors have opened for me that I still can’t make sense of still today. I am only a vessel here being used. Thank you God.
