Meet Christie Stewart | Owner & Interior Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christie Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christie, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important thing that has been a huge factor in our success is the importance of integrity. I believe that operating with integrity means doing the right thing for our clients. As an interior designer our work deeply affects our clients on multiple levels. Here at Studio JC, we have a deep respect for your investment in the interior design process, both financial and personal, and we so are honored to help shape the environment in which our clients live. We know that operating with integrity and employing open, honest communication is critical to the success of any project. We recognize the impact our work has on the lives of others and treat every project and every client with the utmost care and respect.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It was the summer of 2022 when Studio JC was starting to become a reality. Jen Harris and I have worked together at another design firm here in Raleigh for a little over 7 years. The owner of this firm was soon retiring, and we were faced with a decision to make. It didn’t take long to realize that starting our own interior design firm was what we were destined to do! We worked hard over the next few months to get our business off the ground; networking, opening accounts, and spreading the word that Studio JC was open for business! One challenge that I have faced, like any new business, is the “what ifs”. Sometimes, if you add a little perspective, it can make all the difference to help you overcome it. I usually ask myself: Will it matter in 5 hours? – Will it matter in 5 days? – How else can I view this situation? The best solution that always helps me overcome the “what ifs” is focusing on my strengths and skills.
Studio JC is a full-service interior design team committed to collaborating during each and every step of the design process. Whether it is a small room refresh or a whole house renovation, we are here to make a difference in how your life is experienced.
While creating beautiful and functional spaces is what comes naturally to us, our first priority has always been our clients. We feel that your home should be a reflection of yourself. We love what we do because it is our belief that everyone deserves to live in a home that gives them a sense of belonging.
At Studio JC we join together with builders, architects, and to-the-trade sources to create dynamic spaces where you feel most self-expressed. Our gift lies in being able to tune into your visions so we can understand your unique needs and wants for any space – turning your dreams into reality and impacting all aspects of your life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Originally I am from Durham. Some of my favorite spots to visit are Duke Gardens, seeing a show at the Durham Preforming Arts Center, or having brunch at It’s A Southern Thing in downtown Durham – you have to try their fried green tomatoes!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have two people who I would like to give recognition to for guiding me along my new venture. First would be my husband, Charles. He has been here since the beginning of my journey from college until now; watching me grow into the designer I am today. He is also an entrepreneur (owning a very successful HVAC business) and his support along this new venture of mine has meant everything to me. My other shoutout would have to go to my business partner, Jen Harris. We have worked together for a little over 8 years now – 7 years with another firm and 1 year on our own. We took a leap together to start Studio JC and I could not have done this without you. I appreciate your hard work and contributions and can’t wait to see what 2024 holds for us.
