Meet Chris Musto | Raleigh artist. Somewhat strange

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Musto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I think so differently than so many other people that I think it would be better for everyone involved if I just worked for myself doing art.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a kid, I grew pretty attached to muppets, cartoon characters, and any other fantasy characters with human traits. As an adult looking back, I remember watching ET in a theater with people of all ages. Everyone cried when he went home and technically, ET is just a latex puppet someone designed.
I love how we can assign human traits to figments of human imagination and still make a very real connection with them.
I describe my work as Salvador Dali if he’d studied cartooning instead of fine art
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Alamo drafthouse for an obscure indie flick and some good food. Then see if we can find a good goth/industrial night at a local club.
Lately, I’ve also gotten into VR and love taking new people on the “grand tour”.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Everyone in my life is incredibly supportive of what I do. But for helping me develop my skills and choose my direction, the ‘Joe Kubert School’ teachers of the mid 90’s
