Meet Carole Cullen | Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carole Cullen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carole, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent of 2 teenagers, 17year old son and a 14 year old daughter, I recognize that my own behavior and actions serve as a powerful model for my children. I strive to set a positive example by demonstrating the values and behaviors I want my children to emulate. In addition, setting an example of what a strong healthy marriage with great communication looks like will help them in their own relationships in the future.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the Owner of My-Therapist, Inc, a group practice of clinicians specializing in strengthening and healing relationships. We use the most modern and research based methods of couples therapy so we can teach couples how to have the most satisfying relationship possible. I strongly believe that a better world begins with strong healthy families. As parents we can model what a good relationship should look like and teach that to our children through examples of how we live our lives and connect in relationships.
I always had a strong passion to heal people through their relationships and show them that they can have a stable, loving, and supportive family. All it takes is having the right tools for connection. This is something that most of us never learned in our own family of origin. My strong desire to help couples and families along with my ever persistent nature led me to start a group practice that can reach more families than I could on my own. We offer reduced fee services so we can reach the communities that may struggle financially because I strongly believe everyone should have access to excellence mental health services.
On this journey to reach as many families as possible and create strong healthy relationships, I’ve faced some struggles along the way. What I’ve learned from each experience is how to overcome obstacles with positivity and grace. No experience is a mistake or a failure, but a challenge to learn from and information to use when you face your next challenge.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Last week my best friend came for a visit from NYC and we had such a fun and memorable time eating, shopping and relaxing in Raleigh.
We had to start our day at the Raleigh Farmers Market shopping and tasting all the local treats.
Then we were off to the Village District for lunch and of course more shopping. Tazza Kitchen is one of my favorite places to eat.
After massages and facials at the Umstead Spa , we get dressed for dinner and head out to Glenwood South for dinner and nightlife.
We also visited the North Carolina Museum of Art, Wilmington Beaches, and the White Street Brewery in Wake Forest during this trip. There is always so much to see and do but our favorite way to spend time is walking all the beautiful greenways here in North Carolina.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my husband, Chris. He has been my biggest supporter, best friend and partner through every challenge and success for 20 years. I don’t think I would have been as successful as I am without his dedication and support, both personally and professionally.
