Hi Cameron, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m a proud North Carolina native, being born in Greenville North Carolina & being raised in Grifton/Kinston NC. I grew up without my biological father present in my childhood, which showed in childhood confidence issues but my other family members always ensured me that I was loved.
My upbringing in taught me several things that have translated into my current place in life, and it gave me a reason to continue to shoot for high expectations of what I could do & the amount of impact I could have. Having an extremely supportive family, teammates and friends proved to me that as long as you work to be the best you and be authentic, the right people will love you for who you are. Each day, I continue to grow as a person because my upbringing taught me that now one can be the best you but YOU.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Cameron M. Williams, an American entrepreneur, author & speaker with a knack for putting a smile on people’s faces. I wear a few different hats as you can tell, but everything I do is fulfilling to who I am & what I aim to accomplish. I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2022 via a streetwear brand as a college student with NO knowledge of HOW to run a business! I had plenty of drive, which turned into a desire to learn how to source the right products, how to market myself & how to find opportunities to vend my clothes. Since then, i’ve leaded a sales department in a startup company in Greensboro, NC that was recognized as one of the fastest growing brands in the Triad area in 2023.
2023 marked the beginning of my time as an author & speaker, with my book “20 Lessons in 20 Years” being published in October of 2023. My inspiration for sharing my message was realizing that many teenagers & young adults are trying to find who they are in life not knowing the capabilities & skills they have to offer to the world. I focus on motivating & advising various audiences through topics including men’s health, youth empowerment, learning how to destroy negative habits & learning how to BUILD & DEVELOP your confidence. Since publishing my first work, I have sold over 600 copies in paperback & ebook format. You may visit my personal website to purchase my books!
I want everyone who may view this to know that you don’t need to beat yourself up for not knowing everything. Having the courage to step into the unknown is a skill that many wish they had, but never work on developing. I am most proud of how I pushed myself to become better day in & day out by being willing to explore new ventures & be open minded. I have the opportunity to change my life, my family’s lives & the lives of millions across the planet, and that is something I will always be thankful for.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For starters, I currently live in Greensboro but I would much rather take a friend to Charlotte (no offense intended to Greensboro). My idea of fun comes from many components, as I believe combining different & unrelated experiences make for unforgettable memories. We’d have brunch at Church & Union, eat lunch at Alexander’s and have dinner at Supperland. Some of my favorite activities to do in Charlotte is attend the Hornets games, as I believe they have a bright future as a franchise. I also love visiting the Harvey Center (Art).
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have many individuals who deserve shoutouts! But if I had to choose one and only one, i’d have to shoutout my grandmother. My grandmother, since I was a toddler always emphasized the importance of education and doing the best you could in every area of life. Her influence shaped me into being the determined person that I am today, and I will always be thankful for her kind words & wisdom.
