We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryce Chapman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bryce, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
There have been plenty of times where I have thought about giving up. But photography is something that I can truly say that I love. And that love for it, keeps me going.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The images I create takes my subjects from reality to revery. Whether it be portraits, nudes or creating projects stepped in narratives of fantasy and fiction. I can say that my drive for constant creation took me to where I am now and I do not believe that creative drive will ever go away. Especially since I am always trying surround myself with creative people and creative works.

One of the biggest things I have learned on this creative endeavor is that you can not please everyone. You will never be satisfied creatively if you try to do that. At the end of the day, people are going to like what they like. If what you create is something that they don’t like, that’s ok. I can live with that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So where I am from, it’s a small town. If I am being honest, there is not a lot you can do here…BUT if you head to the countryside, there’s a few things you can do. As far as food and drinks go, you cant go wrong with getting some great soul food from King Chicken. There are a few great spots downtown Washington as well. And who can forget the Washington Waterfront? That’s definitely a spot to check out. With all that being said, while Washington is a small town, there are plenty of nooks and crannies in the city that I know about and some I have no clue about.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would be wrong to name just one person. There are so many! Charity Jules, Tonya Jefferson Lynch, Alonza Mitchell, Randy Curtis, and Laura Saavedra. These people have been in my corner and full supporters of me for such a long time and still are to this day!
