We had the good fortune of connecting with Brette Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brette, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I believe the single most important decision I made that has contributed to my success in business sounds very cliche: but it was, just going for it! In 2015, when I wanted to relocate 1,300 miles away from the only place I ever knew, it was nerve-wracking! But I just went for it and ended up LOVING where I moved! When I decided to get on a dating app to see what was out there, that felt very icky at the time! But I just went for it and ended up meeting my husband! In 2016, when I decided to get my real estate license, on the first day of class my instructor told us that in 5 years only 1 of us would be left standing, and that was hard to hear! But I just went for it, and 8 years later we run a successful million dollar business that helps TONS of people. In 2020, when I decided to start a team during a worldwide pandemic, I just went for it and learned SO many things that have prepared me for yet another successful stage in my career. Especially when things feel uncomfortable, just DECIDING to go for it anyway and seeing where that takes you, that is where I have found secret doors of success and opportunity that have led me to some really beautiful people and places in my life. Remember this – you are only one decision away from a completely different life!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a local real estate specialist in the Raleigh, Cary & surrounding areas. I specialize in residential real estate purchases and sales for people relocating to the area from another state or country, first-time home buyers, and high net worth executives & clientele. A few things set us apart from the sea of realtors out there, including our Concierge Program! Davis & Main Concierge is a full-service real estate experience that connects consumers with some of the best real estate agents in the industry to buy or sell their home, while educating our clients and matching them with superior, hand-selected vendors to handle all of their needs throughout the process. This creates a seamless transaction, fosters an atmosphere of excellence, and makes what WE do more meaningful. And the best part about it is that we handle all the front-end coordination for them so they don’t have to lift a finger during the process. We also believe that we will work harder for you than any of our competition and that our communication throughout that process is catered specifically to your needs.

There have been many large challenges we have had to overcome, especially the last couple of years with a pandemic, and an ever-changing political and economic market. From one week to the next, it’s hard to know which direction the market will go, but what was important throughout the last 3 or 4 years was remaining resilient & constantly pushing the boundaries with innovation & creativity to solve problems. We want our clients to win, which means we constantly have to stay on our toes and think outside the box to make it happen. We believe we have some of the best people in the country working for us to ensure mutual success & advise people at a high level when they are investing in real estate.

I would like the world to know that we are the absolute best people to help when it comes to investing in real estate, whether that means purchasing their primary residence or adding investment properties to their portfolio. We also have an incredible strategy for listing their home for sale and seamlessly timing the sale with their next purchase or relocation. We are so passionate about what we do, and we won’t stop working hard until we know our clients are happy, and even after the sale, we work to keep them updated on market trends & smart ways to protect their equity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting town, here would be my itinerary for us:

For breakfast, we would start the day with a delicious breakfast at First Watch in Cary. Their commitment to quality and sourcing exceptional ingredients is out of this world, making their food fresh and amazing every morning!

After breakfast, we would head downtown Raleigh to explore the museums, coffee shops, and shopping! The culture, coffee smalls, and vibrant atmosphere are some of my favorite in the state!

For lunch, I would take her to try Morgan Street Food Hall. It offers a variety of food options, allowing you to indulge in different cuisines in a beautiful location!

To walk off lunch, I would take her on a walk either on the American Tobacco Trail or throughout the extensive Cary greenway system. Most are paved, and the scenery and variety of bikers & walkers is such a fun experience to get some exercise and fresh air!

For dinner, we would go to scrumptious meal at a’Verde Cocina + Tequila Library! The restaurant features the chef who was on “Top Chef,” and drawing from his Mexican heritage they say “the menu is full of memories and stories of family recipes and experiences.” The ambiance, flavors & beautiful, entertaining tequila drinks leave such a lasting impression!!

If we had even more time together, I would work in some relaxation time at the Umstead Spa, some golf at Drive Shack in Cary, or even a whole day at one of North Carolina’s incredible beaches!! The Raleigh area has some incredible sushi & ramen places, Mexican food is DEFINITELY a strong suit, and food halls have become very popular for tasting all kind of food genres and cultures! The walking trails all around the area are top notch. And you really cannot beat Carolina beaches — I have been to many coastal states and countries, and they are some of the best in the world!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shout out would be to my mother Carol, who is no longer with us. Without her unfailing support and encouragement, I wouldn’t be half the person I am today and it’s almost entirely possible I wouldn’t be where I am today in life and in business, without her.
