We had the good fortune of connecting with Bret Cooley-Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bret, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Go for your dreams. Things are only impossible if you do not make an attempt. Owning a business can be so rewarding even thru all the failures along the way as the reward is so great
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Coming from a military background , great work ethic and dedication was instilled me at a young age. And in using what was taught to me helped me apply that same work ethic and dedication into my craft. I believe my keen attention to detail, exceptional communication and ability to pivot set me apart from the rest. I love a good challenge. It has not been easy and has taken advice and trial and error along the way. But being able to learn and growing from our mistakes makes for a great business. I want the world to know that any dream big or small is worth going for. Utilize networking and mentoring to find people that can help you grow and build your brand. Don’t be afraid to take on a task that you may be unfamiliar with because you are constantly learning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first take my bestie for breakfast at biscutville lol. We would then visit pilot mountain for a nice hike to burn off the calories annt indulge in lunch at the top of the mountain. After a quick rest we will bar hop in Charlotte and hit up some good eats. Making a visit to the North Carolina Zoo is a must. A boat ride on lake Norman or Tubing in Boone for some fun in the sun. Top Golf and the Museum of illusions will be the finale. I love a good stimulating time so anything that keeps me moving and involved gets a star in my book.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout-out the TapHouse in Elon, NC which is no longer around but is where I got my start. I am so grateful they took me in, were patient in their training process with me and gave me the tools necessary to succeed.
