Meet Brandon “B-Man” Mosley | DJ, Producer, Remixer, & Hip-Hop Enthusiast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon “B-Man” Mosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon “B-Man”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, it all unfolded naturally as the demand for my DJing grew. I was fortunate to have older friends who took me under their wing and shared a wealth of knowledge with me. Eventually, it just felt like the right time to branch out and carve my own path.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One of the creative techniques I’ve developed is something I call ‘sample-to-transition edits.’ These are crafted primarily with fellow DJs in mind. Essentially, I take a track that contains a recognizable sample and begin the edit with that original sampled piece. From there, I gradually build it back up—layer by layer—until it transitions seamlessly into the more modern song that utilized the sample. It’s both a nod to music history and a tool to enhance DJ sets.
One of my proudest moments to date has been being personally invited by DJ Jazzy Jeff and his wife to attend his exclusive ‘Playlist Retreat’ at their home—something I’ve aspired to since the event first began.
I genuinely believe that where I am today is thanks to a combination of God’s grace, relentless hard work, and, interestingly enough, the pandemic. As strange as that might sound, I think that period gave people time to discover and reshare the work I was doing online, which helped grow my visibility.
One key lesson I’ve learned along the way is the importance of authenticity. It’s okay not to follow the crowd—being yourself is what truly sets you apart.
And just to set the record straight: I’m a proud Virginian, even though I’ve since been transplanted to North Carolina. A lot of people assume I’m from North Carolina originally, but no—it all started in Virginia.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start by taking them to a couple of my favorite spots to eat—Cajun Queen or 3rd & Fernwood—for some great food and good vibes. After that, we’d head over to Camp North End to check out the art, grab a few drinks, and just enjoy the atmosphere. I’d definitely make a stop at Repo Records for some vinyl digging, too. I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a homebody, so they might find my pace a little chill—but that’s just me.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Bobby Guy. From an early age, he invited me to accompany him to his DJ performances—often during my grade school years—providing not only invaluable exposure to the craft but also compensating me for my contributions. His mentorship laid the foundation for my career, and I can confidently say that his guidance played a pivotal role in helping me reach where I am today.
