We had the good fortune of connecting with Aurielle Bryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aurielle, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
When we meet with potential clients who have never worked with a media production company or a creative agency before, the one thing that continues to surprise them is the amount of time it takes to see the fruit labors (aka ROI). One arm of our company helps businesses visually package their brands in order to be ready for the marketplace. This could mean anything from brand design and strategy to commercials to web design to marketing strategies; none of these things produce instant results. They can take months (and in some cases over a year) to begin to see the results.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our company, Heir Media, is a family owned media and creative production company (although we can function as an agency). That means that we generally assist small and medium sized businesses with their media production (sometimes, distribution) and strategy, which includes film (commercials, brand films, social media videos, interactive videos, etc.), publishing (handbooks + guides, novels, etc.), branding, web design, and more. We also create our own original content for distribution.

In my opinion, two things set us apart: our storytelling style and our personalization. Since our inception, it’s always been a priority for us to make personalized, custom plans for each of our clients. We firmly believe that one size does not fit all in an ever-changing, evolving digital landscape. Second, our storytelling approach will always utilize our love for a cinematic look, and will always try to get to the heart of the client’s story. We believe that stories connect us across nationalities, creeds, and borders; and companies would do well to emphasize the human aspect of their brands.

Personally, I’m extremely proud of how we’ve been able to stay consistent with our approach, while expanding our skillset. We’re now in our third since relocating to Wilmington, NC, and we’ve been able to utilize our toolkit to showcase many amazing local brands. The road here wasn’t easy — we’ve had many highs and lows — but looking at each of those experiences as lessons to get better at our craft has made the lows something that I can look back on with a smile. It always amazes me how simply shifting your focus off of the negative aspects in life and onto something more positive (even if it’s just a silver lining), can make all the difference.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Places to Eat: Indochine, True Blue Butcher and Table, Bahn Sai, Oceanview, or el Cerro Grande are some of my favorites in the area.

Places to Visit: Battleship NC (please do this in fall or spring), Cameron Art Museum, Airlie Gardens, Wrightsville Beach (or Kure), Downtown, and more; during the summer, there are an endless amount of concerts every week that are great to go to as well. I’d also recommend taking the ferry down by Fort Fisher that takes you to Southport. There are also periodic pop up markets at the Soda Pop District that are fun to peruse. Wilmington has a plethora of festivals, popups, and markets throughout the year to go to.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My tribe! For me, my tribe consists of my immediate family and a few really amazing friends who are also successful entrepreneurs. They’ve watched me grow and were always a phone call away of I needed encouragement or had questions to ask.
