We had the good fortune of connecting with Armani Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Armani, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Driven by a deep commitment to community and well-being, I founded Find Your Footing with the vision of creating a safe, inclusive space where individuals of all skill levels can experience the joy of dance. Currently, I offer classes for adults 18+ in Heels, Contemporary, and various pop-up genres.

In the dance world, there are many opportunities for kids and teens, but often after the age of 18, people feel like they’ve “aged out” of dancing—either because of the studio environment or a mental barrier. I believe you’re never too old to dance and move your body. Find Your Footing is all about empowering adults to rediscover dance, regardless of age or experience.

For me, dance is a powerful tool for joy, healing, and building community. This belief is at the heart of Find Your Footing, and it’s what inspired me to create a space where adults can come together, embrace their movement, and express themselves freely.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is all about versatility and unapologetic movement. I believe in the power of self-expression through dance—whether it’s the bold, confident steps in Heels, the fluidity of Contemporary, or any of the pop-up genres I offer. What sets me apart from others is my ability to move freely between styles while staying true to myself. Dance isn’t just about the steps; it’s about how you carry your energy and emotions through movement, no matter the genre. My movement is always unapologetic, meaning I allow myself to be raw, vulnerable, and authentic in every class and performance.

What I’m most proud of is how I’ve been able to tie mental health advocacy into dance. For me, the two are inseparable. I’ve always seen dance as a powerful tool for holistic well-being, not just physical fitness, but mental and emotional healing too. I’m passionate about creating spaces where adults can rediscover dance as a form of therapy, empowerment, and self-love. Through movement, we can address our mental health, connect with our emotions, and build a strong sense of community. It’s what drives me every day to continue doing this work.

Getting to where I am today has definitely been a journey. It wasn’t easy. Like most people in this field, I’ve faced challenges—balancing my passion with the practicalities of running a business, overcoming self-doubt, and breaking through the barriers that say “dance is for kids, not adults.” But the biggest lesson I’ve learned is resilience. You can’t let setbacks define you; you have to keep moving forward, even if the steps aren’t always perfect. I’ve also learned the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people—mentors, coaches, and a supportive community—who push you to grow and keep you grounded.

What I want the world to know about me and Find Your Footing is that I’m here to break down the idea that dance has an age limit or that it’s only for the “naturally talented.” My brand is about empowering adults to move, express, and reconnect with their bodies, no matter their skill level or experience. I believe that through dance, movement, and mental health awareness, we can create a more inclusive world where everyone feels worthy of joy, healing, and self-expression. My story is one of finding my footing, and I want to help others find theirs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d start by taking them to breakfast at Scrambled Southern Diner, then we’d check out the Greensboro Cultural Center for some local art. We’d spend an early afternoon roller skating, grab some subs for lunch, and maybe hit up Four Seasons Mall for some shopping. Another day, we’d go see a movie, walk the Greenway, and find something else fun to do. Whether it’s arts, good food, or fun activities, I’d make sure we enjoy the best of Greensboro, with plenty of wings and subs along the way!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my family—their unwavering support and belief in me have been a constant source of strength throughout my journey. I also want to give a huge thanks to my first dance teachers and coach at Precision Dance Center. Their mentorship not only shaped my dance foundation but also inspired me to pursue my passion on a deeper level.

Additionally, I can’t forget the coaches of Golden Delight Auxiliary at North Carolina A&T. They provided that extra push when I needed it most, helping me grow both as a dancer and as a person. Their guidance and dedication made a huge difference in my journey, and I’m so grateful for everything they taught me.

These people, along with so many others, have played a pivotal role in my success, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
