Meet Amber Barnes | actress, model, brand ambassador, and assistant director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I ever had to make was quitting my job to work on Our Kind of People (tv show). I was booked to work as Yaya Dacosta’s stand in full time for 6 months. I didn’t know what I was getting into but I knew that I wanted to be on set to learn and to network. It taught me so much in the process. I’ve never did anything like that. The good news was my former coworkers was rooting me on! Even the Doctors because they knew filming or working on set was my passion.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m going to keep this short and simple because I’ve done a lot of interviews and well the people that knows me knows. I’m an actress, model, assistant director & brand ambassador to some of the top major brands. I’ve studied my craft, took acting classes with my coach Vas Saranga (who teaches (THE ONLINE ACTOR) courses and I was booking several films that I was grateful enough to be in. That is what got me this far. It was not easy but nothing is easy in this field. You got to stay consistent and network to get to where you need to be. I’ve learned that without God and consistency, you’ll never make it far. You can’t allow set backs to hold you back. Just got to keep going. I want the world to know I’m coming for everything they thought I couldn’t have! I’m going to keep going until I make it to the top! To the ones that supports me, thank you!! Y’all are the real MVPs. I have red carpet events coming up, movies that I’m apart of coming up, and more. I plan on moving to GA soon to further my career and brand. I just have a lot going on.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie came to visit Raleigh I would take her to visit North Hills mall. It’s beautiful and she would love hanging out at the rooftop bars there. I would also check out the Art of Museum located downtown Raleigh NC. This museum is like a social bar and they have paintings and beautiful decorations everywhere on the inside. I did a content review there not too long ago. A lot of people enjoy going there and last but not least try out the different restaurants in the area. I don’t have a favorite restaurant besides Olive Garden because I love Italian food but there are several different restaurants to try out she would love. Oh and let’s add Frankie’s to the list too. It’s like a dope arcade for kids and adults to enjoy. The prices can be high but it’s fun to go to.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly I want to give a shout-out to my beautiful mother Lisa Barnes who’s been there for me through thick and thin. I want to give a shoutout to my beautiful princess Autumn Bell (daughter), she’s been my motivation and she’s the reason why I’m working so hard, my besties Shanetta Alston (Rocky Mt), Jessica Lynch ( Rocky Mt), Roshay Anthony (Tarboro), Eric Shields (Body guard & friend), Melissa Rattray & family (Clayton NC), Aunt (Lea Spruill & cuzzo Adara Spruill (Killeen Texas), GMA (Katrina Bell Mosley & DJ), sister Ashley Barnes (Charlotte NC) & my boyfriend rapper Gary Jackson Jr aka CEO Jr. (Montgomery Alabama)(He is doing his thing with his music!), and so many others that I’ve worked with and was there for me. I literally can go on & on with this because I really have a lot of great friends but I’m too lazy to list them all lol
