Hi Alina V., why did you pursue a creative career?
Creatively leading with values is integral to who I am. My entrepreneurial journey is deeply rooted in a holistic understanding of wellness that intertwines technology, creativity, and faith. From a young age, I have experienced faith in the living God as a powerful catalyst for mental and emotional well-being, which fundamentally shapes my approach to design. When asked what I wanted to be growing up, I listed an array of technical and artistic careers. My parents created an environment conducive to creativity and innovative thinking, ensuring I always knew I had options.

The foundation of my aspirations began in third grade when I created a girl’s empowerment group with my mom called Fitness and Fashion. This early experience fueled my drive to create meaningful solutions in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM) that serve. My computer engineering background assists me in developing ethical technologies that promote wellness and personal empowerment.

Through AlVicRo Designs, my custom jewelry business, I am exploring how technology, design, and wellness can intersect. I know that faith is rooted in hope and impactful when worked through love, which are values I seek to embed in every solution I discover. I believe technology can be an instrument for spiritual and emotional growth.

Overall, my goal is to create accessible technologies that solve problems and shine a light of hope and resilience. Through creativity, I am committed to developing innovations that serve and recognize the profound connection between advancement and holistic wellness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Humbly embarking on this entrepreneurial journey, is a testament to divine guidance and purposeful innovation. I believe each day is a gift. By faith and works, I have built AlVicRo Designs and contributed to iSCORED!, with a mission to serve communities through creative solutions.

God has renewed my mind to see opportunities where others might see limitations. AlVicRo Designs began with my passion for fashion, and we aim to create jewelry that empowers those who feel “othered out.” My vision extends beyond aesthetics, looking to merge technology and holistic wellness into wearable art that equips the user with resilient encouragement.

With iSCORED!, I am driven by the understanding that human connection plays a significant role in wellness, which is a truth reflected both in my engineering research and in my faith. As John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”. Through our relationship-building game, we create spaces that spark authentic dialogue and intimate enlightenment.

My entrepreneurial path has come with challenges. During moments of perceived stagnation, I have learned to pause and reflect. Being still helps me recognize God’s omnipresence, omniscience, and omnipotence. My relationship with Jesus is vital; He provides peace and direction in all aspects of life, including personal and professional spheres.

Ultimately, my mission transcends business. It is about being a light in challenging spaces, serving with integrity, and demonstrating that faith, creativity, and perseverance can transform challenges into opportunities for edification.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, we would have a TIME! We would walk (likely model walking) into a joy-filled week. Knowing us, each morning would begin by spending time with God, which sets an intentional tone for our adventures. From the Flying Biscuit Café to downtown Raleigh, to sweet treats in Durham to restaurants on Hillsborough Street, these locations would become the stage for our jokes and canvas for our memories.

At NC State, we would balance active and creative time with the on-campus ropes course and various makerspaces and studios. The week would include peacefully quiet moments, whether enjoying outdoor lunches in awe of God’s creation or relaxing at a spa, we would have a wonderful time! Wherever the Holy Spirit guides the day, “…we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Foundationally, it is a blessing to dream of plans with a dear friend, wherever God leads us.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My greatest shoutout goes to Jesus Christ, the One who came that I may have life, and that I may have it more abundantly. This path has been shaped by an incredible community of loving and honest people who have invested in my growth both personally and professionally. Our real conversations and their faithful encouragement have helped me reframe challenges as stepping stones in my entrepreneurial story.

As an undergraduate student, I am very grateful for the transformative impact of NC State’s Women and Minority Engineering Program, the Center for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST), and the Shelton National Leadership Scholars Program. These organizations have provided crucial resources, mentorship, and opportunities that have significantly contributed to my career development. Their commitment to fostering diverse leadership and innovation has opened doors. I am humbly honored to serve and shine because I know the One who came to serve and is the source of my light.
