Meet Adi Foister | Owner & Lead Floral Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adi Foister and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adi, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
From the start of my entrepreneurial journey almost 20 years ago, my favorite quote has been, “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do” by Rumi. This quote resonates deeply with me because it encapsulates the idea of living and working from the heart. For me, it serves as a constant reminder to align my passions with my purpose. As a floral designer, this quote perfectly captures the essence of what drives me. Flowers are not just my medium—they are my passion, my art, and my way of connecting with others.
When I follow my heart and engage in creative endeavors that bring me joy, I find that the energy and beauty of that joy naturally radiate outwards. It inspires and uplifts others, transforming my work into an act of service. This philosophy has been a guiding light in both my personal and professional life, encouraging authenticity, creativity, and a genuine connection with those I serve.
What I love most about this quote is how it bridges the inner world of passion with the external world of action, reminding us that when we honor what we love, we not only fulfill ourselves but also make a meaningful impact on others.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey as an artist has been one of transformation and growth, and I’m honored to share more about my story. My career began as a hairstylist, where I found immense joy in serving my community and building close relationships with my clients. I adored the creative process and the opportunity to make people feel beautiful and confident. However, my hairstyling career was cut short due to the impact it had on my physical health and developing a sensitivity to the chemicals.
Though that chapter ended unexpectedly, it opened the door to something equally fulfilling. I pivoted and channeled my knowledge of color theory, design, and creativity into my work as a floral designer. This transition allowed me to explore a new medium of artistry while staying true to my passion for serving others. My approach to floral design is bespoke and deeply rooted in the nuances of nature. I pay close attention to details, celebrating the imperfect beauty that each bloom brings to life.
The journey to where I am today hasn’t been easy, but it’s been filled with lessons. I’ve learned to surrender to life’s unexpected turns, trusting in my faith and the belief that I will be supported as long as I pour my heart and passion into my work. Rooted Goods was born from that trust—a way to continue being a business owner while creating meaningful connections in my community.
Through Rooted Goods, I’ve had the privilege of bringing joy and comfort in times of both celebration and sorrow. Whether designing for a wedding, a memorial, or simply a moment of beauty, I approach each piece with intention and care, understanding the profound impact flowers can have.
What I want the world to know about my story is that resilience, trust, and a willingness to evolve are key to finding purpose. I’m proud of the journey I’ve taken and the beauty I’ve been able to create, not just in my art but in the lives of those I’ve had the honor to touch.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d be thrilled to show them the best of what Clayton, NC, and the surrounding areas have to offer. One of the things I love most about living and working here is how convenient our town is to both the beach and the mountains, making it easy to explore the best of both worlds.
We’d start the week with a trip to the coast, visiting the beautiful beaches for a day of sun and relaxation. From there, we’d head to downtown Wilmington to stroll along the charming waterfront, shop at the unique boutiques, and enjoy a delicious meal at one of their fantastic local restaurants.
Back in Clayton, our local adventures would include riding bikes along the scenic Mountain to Sea Trail, which offers serene views and a chance to connect with nature. We’d also take a short drive to Raleigh to visit the NC Museum of Art, where we could enjoy both the stunning outdoor park and the inspiring indoor exhibits. For dinner, Bida Manda in downtown Raleigh is a must—it’s one of my favorites in town.
Of course, I love hosting friends at my home, so there would be plenty of time for relaxing and catching up. I’d prepare home cooked meals, brew some hot tea, and create a warm, inviting space to unwind. Sharing stories and laughter over a meal is one of my favorite ways to connect.
A week with a best friend here would be a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and quality time—just like our town, where community and connection thrive.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My journey and successes have been shaped by the incredible support and encouragement I’ve received along the way, and I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband and my Goalfriends group. First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my husband. His support and belief in me is a constant source of inspiration, and his readiness to lend a helping hand whenever needed means everything to me.
The Goalfriends are an amazing community of like-minded women who uplift one another with unwavering encouragement and genuine support. What makes this group so special is how we create a space where we can be both dreamers and doers. We share our goals, celebrate our wins, and hold each other accountable to what truly matters most to each of us.
Their belief in me has helped me stay aligned with my purpose, even during challenging times. The love, insight, and accountability that we give and receive in this group have been instrumental in both my personal growth and my entrepreneurial journey. They remind me of the power of community and how much we can achieve when we support one another wholeheartedly.
To my Goalfriends, thank you for being a vital part of my story. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your inspiration and support!
