Artistic and creative careers are among the most rewarding, but they also come with unique challenges. We asked some of the city’s best creatives to tell us why they choose to pursue a creative career.
It was the only thing I was good at! No, really I had always been creative, even at a young age. I started drawing at around six years old and thought maybe I’d be an artist or painter someday. I’ve always been a creative, for as long as I can remember. I come from a family of engineers, so I’m not really sure where the artistic side came from, but from a young age I was always drawing, putting on performances with my sisters, writing stories, or planning elaborate art projects. While supporting my husband through his career training and staying home with four young kids, I always found outlets for my creativity despite being short on time and money. Read more>>
I have always had a interest in the arts, tv, media &film, I remember watching some of my favorite female talk show hosts, like when Tyra Banks had her own show, and then we she came out with Americas Next Top model, I too had done some modeling in highschool and college and I was very intrigued by beauty and women using their looks to pay them as a career and I quickly learned through studying the industry, that hair and makeup and good lighting was behind all the magic that we see “front and center.” to help these women personality come alive and shine through! I was working two full-time jobs; they were good jobs, but I was unhappy. Both of those jobs were not fulfilling to me. I had always wanted to be a journalist for a video game magazine. Once my youngest child was old enough to be somewhat self-sufficient, I informed my husband that I wanted to try to go after my dream job.
