We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Linden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
In the world of holistic nutrition and wellness it can seem like a dr or an influencer or a practitioner has the absolute knowledge about health or what supplement to take or what protocol to do. In my experience, over 30 years – the science, the research, the information and the knowledge changes – often… AND our biological individuality matters. So doing work with someone who understands it is not a one size fits all, or that doesn’t think that everyone should “detox” or do an elimination diet… look at your biology (labs) and your history and your experiences and work with someone who helps from that angle.

What should our readers know about your business?
My full story via a bio: Kathryn “Katie” D. Linden brings a diverse background in the health and wellness field, reflecting her extensive experience and multifaceted expertise. Her journey began with a BS in Exercise Science and Nutrition, teaching fitness classes, and personal training. She completed an internship at the University of Chicago Medical Hospital as an exercise physiologist in the cardiac rehabilitation department and subsequently worked as a Physical Therapy assistant. Katie has always integrated holistic perspectives into her client interactions, driven by a core belief in prevention, the mind-body connection, and addressing root causes.

Katie’s career took a transformative turn when she became a personal trainer and trusted assistant to a prominent entertainer, which deepened her understanding of emotional complexities and inspired her to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University. As a social worker and psychotherapist, she worked with clients facing diverse challenges, including difficult life transitions, domestic violence, addiction, and mental illness, and consulted for family businesses.

Her personal health and fertility journey introduced Katie to non-toxic products, leading her to become an independent consultant for Arbonne in 2010. Her passion, leadership, and organizational growth earned her the title of Vice President in 2013. In this role, she created nutritional programs, led group workshops, and educated her team on health, leadership, self-awareness, motivation, and mindfulness. This opportunity allowed her to integrate her experiences in exercise and nutrition, management, and education.

Since 2010, Katie has focused on therapeutic wellness coaching, specializing in holistic nutrition and mineral balancing. Utilizing functional labs such as Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA), she tailors personalized protocols for her clients, highlighting the intricate connection between mind, body, and spirit in the journey toward health and healing. Understanding the often overwhelming nature of nutrition and healing, Katie prioritizes fundamental changes in nutrition and lifestyle, ultimately fostering enduring transformations in her clients’ habits. Her ultimate gauge of success is her clients’ newfound capacity to embrace life with renewed energy, clarity, motivation, and happiness. ***

What sets me apart: I have been in the nutrition/exercise world for a long time and have participated in every trend – good and bad! I have done lots of elimination diets too but in my pursuit for the true root cause of my aliments (and my client’s) now I focus on minerals and mineral balancing. Minerals are the spark plugs for health and every cellular function – so before taking vitamins, I want to see if the cells can even take nutrients in and transfer waste out (and if the metabolic system is even ready to detox). I often see depletion and imbalances in Ca, Mg, Na and K… the 4 core minerals. So mineral focus – foundational approaches to health is where I am different…. I have a psychotherapy background so I am therapeutic in my sessions and connect the brain/gut and nervous system into my work. My exercise physiology background brings me to foundational exercise for clients (esp women in peri/menopause and why exercise and fasting is different for women). My clients take my course – The Wellness Blueprint – a 6 class course where they learn about detoxing the household, nervous system/gut brain, how to shop and read labels and nutrient density and the basics of how to eat and source clean food. (I am also currently learning plant stem cells with Nature Provides and will be incorporating these in protocols soon!)***

Lessons I have learned – there is always a trend, a thing that seems like the absolute truth… and it probably won’t last and it is probably only part of the story and research will likely change. That AND every body is different so that latest supplement, that latest diet or the viral “thing” won’t work for all. Testing helps direct treatment.

What I want people to know? I am not perfect even though yes I know a lot and do live a pretty clean lifestyle compared to many. Perfection isn’t where health is and I’m still learning and evolving and as my body changes (stress, IVF, moving, perimenopause etc) I learn and I love to empower others to learn what I did so they don’t have to make my mistakes.

Challenges: wanting to help everyone for free and giving away all I know for little – not a great biz plan. Using courses and mentors has helped and is helping as I am restructuring my biz now. I want to help more people – so functional/holistic health is more accessible to most (like thru my course) and shift to more group coaching to keep costs lower for clients and increase my capacity to help more people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This happened recently so this is what we did! We spent a day at the White Water Center (these are active girlfriends!) – we did yoga in the AM, rafting, zip lines and hanging bridges – ended with beautiful meal at home at sunset (with food from the farmers market). We ate at Speckled Pear in Fort Mill, Flour Shop in Myers Park, did drinks at Restoration Hardware rooftop. Walks at Anne Springs Greenway. Shopping at Kinglsey (Broadcloth Boutique) and Apricot – main street fort mill. Sycamore Brewery and some shops nearby – I’m new here (moved from NY in 2021) so still learning Charlotte and uptown! We did drinks at the Blue door one night also. So much more I need to explore and learn about here!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people! Suzanne Hill of the Ohm Center in NYC, Kendra Perry and her HTMA training and Masters program; Jenn Payeur and Helen Armstrong from Divine Health Alliance in NC.
