Meet Courtney Reinhardt | Permanent Makeup Artist and Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Reinhardt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Before having kids and in my full time management role I would work a minimum of 40 hours a week. I would say yes to absolutely any opportunity to work additional hours, take on projects, and work events in order to advance. In doing so I would rearrange anything going on in my personal life. This caused significant stress, burnout, and exhaustion, and ultimately led me to wanting to work for myself.
Now that I own my own business and have two small children, my work schedule is created revolving around the needs of my personal life. I work much less and spend the majority of my time at home. It is still challenging, but I absolutely have had to learn that it is okay to say no to some opportunities that stretch my schedule too thin.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own Blondie Brows NC, and offer microblading, ombré powder brows, lip blush, saline brow removal, and have created a full brow certification program. I will also be adding eyeliner to my service menu very soon. I love connecting with my clients and meeting their goals for brows and lips. I listen to and value what they want, while also being extremely honest about what is best long-term for their skin. I strive to always operate my business ethically and fully explain the process, healing, and care.
I am so excited to have finally completed my training program and look forward to mentoring others in mastering this skill, along with a high emphasis in the business and marketing side of your own business. So many in this industry are so artistic, but struggle with the business side, so I ensured to set them up for success.
I would definitely say this industry has many challenges but is so worth it. You truly have to master this skill, as you’re tattooing someone’s face. Unlike other beauty services where clients return every few weeks or months, permanent makeup is unique that you only return every 1-3 years, so you are constantly working to book new clients. It has been so important to stay consistent in all marketing strategies, while also always trying new things.
If you are interested in receiving permanent makeup and/or starting your career in PMU, I truly think consumers need to do so much research and know what they’re doing. You should love the artist’s work and see HEALED results. You should read all their policies and fully agree. Please know that not everyone is a candidate and not all techniques can be best for your skin (for example microblading is not great for oily or mature skin). This is your face – so don’t just book with whoever is cheapest or has soonest availability. Find someone you love and watch their work for a little before deciding.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Graham and absolutely LOVE the small town feel, while still having access to everything I need! I take literally everyone to the soda shop downtown and just walk around.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The biggest shoutout goes to my family in my story and success. My kids get excited about anything they can help with in my business and seeing the work I do, along with motivating me to do well. My husband works a full time job and a lot of his time off is spent watching the kids solo while I go take clients.
